Everyone claims to be the best cabinet painter in Charlotte but are they really the best cabinet painter? Being the best painter has more to do with experience and equipment used over the application itself. I have been watching a lot of cabinet painters for the past few years and one thing that I have noticed is more use airless paint sprayers. Anyone that uses an airless paint sprayer can hardly claim to be the best cabinet painter. You might be asking “what is an airless paint sprayer?”
Airless Paint Sprayer
The picture to right is an example of an airless paint sprayer. This type of sprayer can produce a fine finish but the finish it produces is usually for surfaces likes doors, frames and trim. Doors and frames aren’t really looked at in the same way as kitchen cabinets. The first problem with using this sprayers is they use a lot of paint. Heavy paint mill is good for doors and frames because they need a thicker coat of paint. The one thing that is common with doors and frames is the paint chips over time. The paint chips because most of the time they have been spray with an airless sprayer that applies thick mills of paint. Painters claim they can achieve a fine finish for cabinets, but if you have nothing to compare their finish too then you won’t know the difference.

When painting cabinets, you dont want a lot of paint built up. Heavy paint will peel and take so long to cure. The best cabinet painters use less paint in thin layers using a sprayer called a HVLP. An airless paint sprayer is a commercial pump that is designed for industrial and commercial coatings. Airless paint sprayers are also used for fast production. Before Hiring a Cabinet Painter
Before you intevrviw cabinet painters be sure to ask what method they will be using to paint your kitchen cabinets. If the painter tells you that you will have to wait 14-21 days to fully use y
our cabinets, then chances are he is using the wrong material or equipment that isn’t designed for cabinet coatings. In theory more paint means a stronger finish but not with cabinets. Cabinet coatings need to cure fast so you use your kitchen like you normallly would for preparing food and cooking. Also, using the wrong technique means your cabinet doors will stick to the frames and that will lead to paint failure over time.
